| I AM
WONDERFUL Affirmations are many
things to many people. The Dictionary define Affirmations as to Affirm
something that is true. Affirm a positive assertion or statement. To
declare something solemnly and formally as true.
Positive Affirmations awaken the truth
within us and stir it into our own positive reality. The title of this
article "I AM WONDERFUL" could sound bragging or conceited but in
reality it is true, I am wonderful and so are each of you reading this
article.
We are all created to be wonderful but
sometimes we loose sight of that. We get caught up in the stresses of
life and we can get beat down and worn out and loose sight of the fact
that we are wonderful. That is a truth and therefore a powerful word
phrase of affirmation.
NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE?
For our purposes, Affirmations represent positive thoughts or
truthful power statements. Affirmations can be negative but we are ONLY
going to focus on the positive side of affirmations and what they can do
for each of us in a powerfully positive way.
Affirmations are statements of change or
inspiration. Affirmations can be one word, one sentence, one paragraph
or even a religion, movement or cause as long as it has powerfully
positive influences in your life.
HOW DO AFFIRMATIONS WORK?
Positive affirmations can strengthen our minds and bodies. They can
help motivate us or cause a change for good in our mind and thus affect
the way we think, act or feel.
Everything we do starts from our minds.
They are power words or word of truth that represent motivational or
inspirational thoughts. Your thoughts precede your actions.
Before you lift your arm to get a glass of water you have a thought,
"I'm thirsty", "I need to clear my throat with a sip of water" etc.
These thoughts call to action the movement of raising you arm and hand
to get that glass of water.
Affirmations are based on "thoughts
precede actions." Taking a quote from the Bible, "As a man thinketh, so
is he." Proverbs 23:7. If something happens to make you happy it
registers in your mind which can spread over your body in a positive way
but it starts in your mind.
We want to harness that power with
positive affirmations. Generally "positive affirmations" can be
inward and even self centered. We take the approach that positive
affirmations can be inward and outward at the same time. Often reaching
out to others can be as good or better for the soul in defeating
negative self talk or in defeating the bad around us while inspiring us
in overcoming the things that tend to weigh us down.
IMPLEMENTATION
So how do they work? Let's take for example someone who feels no love.
For whatever reason they feel that no body loves them, through time they
feel they are not worthy of love. This example could be perhaps one of
the worst conditions a human could find themselves in emotionally.
The power or positive affirmations works
this way. Create a short phrase that speaks the truth to the soul. The
truth part is important. All religions hold to the tenant that one of
the attributes of their God is love. Therefore, as we are created in His
image it is a truth that we are worthy of love.
For this example we will use the
following positive affirmation phrase "I am worthy of love!".
Repeat this phrase over and over (10, 20, or more times) several times a
day.
Some my say repeat 40 times six times a
day or something to that effect. We hold to the concept of repeating
over and over, several times a day as it works for you but in needs to
be more than repeating the phrase once a day.
Whenever you can repeat the phrase out
loud do it. This is similar to hearing it out loud by someone else and
your mind hears it audibly and that carries more weight in your mind.
However it might not feel right to be sitting at your desk in your
office with many people in ear shot hearing you say out loud "I am
worthy of love!". Repeating the phrase "I am worthy of love!" in
your mind over and over also works and should be done whenever talking
out loud doesn't work.
Another example for SUCCESS
"I have the power to achieve my dreams" is a
great example of a powerfully positive affirmation. Determine what your
dreams are at the moment (without having something specific that fits
into your dream category the phrase is empty). Repeat this affirmation
over and over as often as possible.
ONE WORD REMINDERS
You can take these positive affirmation statements and drill them down
to one word, for the examples we've used so far, one affirmation word
could be "Love" and the other could be "Achieve". Each of these words
can serve as a reminder of the full affirmation.
We have .925 Sterling Silver Jewelry
Charms that are called Affirmation Charms. They are circle shaped
pendants with usually one or two words engraved on both sides of the
round charm. These Affirmation charms are 2.7 grams of solid sterling
silver. They measure about 7/8" round.
You can take the power words out of your
personal positive affirmations and you can wear these charms on a chain
as a necklace to remind yourself of the affirmation you’re working on.
Some wear them on their key chains, some on bracelets or zipper pulls.
But the one thing in common is that they are using them as a stylish
reminder of something important.
REAL LIFE EXAMPLE
One woman lost her husband in a senseless murder. Her daughter
introduced her to affirmation charms by giving her several to wear on a
chain. These were words like Faith, Courage, Strength, Patience and
Peace to name a few.
Every morning as she went through these pendants as she put on her
necklace these words reminded her of memories, thoughts and feelings
that gave her strength and courage to go on.
This woman, one her own, added more affirmation charms to her
necklace to give her other reminders for other memories, thoughts and
feelings. I met her about five years after the tragic death and she was
still wearing them and looking through them each and every day.
She was well kept and radiant with a great outlook on life. She gave
much of the credit to these affirmation pendants and the power they had
in helping her remember positive thoughts, feelings and memories.
CONCLUSION
Positive Affirmations are words or phrases that are designed to inspire
and uplift your soul and to help overcome the negative influence that
can surround us. These affirmation words can defeat negative self talk.
Affirmations help to remind us that we can be better and improve our
lives. These affirmation pendants can help reinforce the affirmations
important to you.
